Crypto Basics

A beginner's guide to Binance's core features

Seven concepts every new user should understand before trading. Each section is intentionally short β€” think of this as a map, not the full territory.

01

Spot Trading

Buying or selling crypto for immediate settlement at the current market price. You own the asset outright β€” the simplest and lowest-risk way to start trading.

02

Futures

Contracts that track an asset's price, often with leverage. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, so futures carry meaningfully more risk and are best approached after you understand spot trading well.

03

P2P

Peer-to-peer trading lets you buy or sell crypto directly with other users through local payment methods, with the platform's escrow service helping secure the exchange.

04

Staking

Locking up certain assets to help secure a blockchain network in exchange for rewards. Terms, lock-up periods, and reward rates vary by asset β€” read the specific product details before committing funds.

05

Earn

A category of yield-generating products (including staking, savings, and structured products) for holders who want their idle assets to work rather than sit untouched.

06

Wallet

Your exchange wallet holds funds custodially on the platform's behalf. For active trading this is convenient; for long-term holdings, many experienced users prefer moving assets to a personal (self-custody) wallet.

07

Security Tips

Enable two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, set an anti-phishing code, whitelist withdrawal addresses, and never share your login credentials or verification codes with anyone.

A word on risk

Cryptocurrency prices are volatile, and trading β€” especially with leverage β€” can result in the loss of your entire deposited amount. Nothing on this page is financial advice. Start small, only invest what you can afford to lose, and treat your first few trades as a learning process.
